I first moved to Melbourne in February 2020, however as we all know our realities soon changed with the pandemic running havoc. I abandoned my newly signed apartment and came back to Perth, for what I thought would be for a few weeks, but really turned into a year. Fast forward to mid 2021 and the boarders are opened (for now) and I'm able to fly between Perth & Melbourne for the apartment hunt once again. Until I can finally settle back in Melbourne, I will be reminiscing about my latest trip & the amazing people I hung out with & the awesome places I visited. Here's a little run down of what I got up to in Melbourne...
Saturday morning at The Rose Street Markets in Fitzroy
Going to The Rose Street Markets and The Fitzroy Markets (which is just across the road) is my favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning in Melbourne. You can always find cute jewelry, amazing home decor, as well as vintage clothes among the many booths of small businesses. I bought this blue coat below at the Fitzroy Markets that day!
Explored Chinatown at night
If you're ever left wondering what to do, you can't go wrong by wandering through Chinatown. My favourite time to explore Chinatown is at night as it really becomes alive with the luminous lights!

Took selfies on the trams before realising I was going in the opposite direction
Happened multiple times. Hot tip: Don't be afraid to ask for help. Lovely strangers helped me on multiple occasions when I asked if I'm on the right side of the road for where I needed to be going and in fact all times I was not right.
Got drunk & had a photoshoot with my friend Seb who came to visit
What trip is complete without a drunk photoshoot with your BFF?

Late lunch at 'This Kettle Black" in South Melbourne
I had a 1 o'clock reservation at "This Kettle Black" and what time did I wake up? 1:10. However the staff were surprisingly understanding when I rocked up 40 minutes late and the service throughout my whole meal was amazing!

Ate delicious dumplings at "Hawker Hall" in Windsor
If you love dumplings and nasi goreng, this is the place for you! The staff are so friendly and the food was delicious, 10/10, guaranteed good time.

Drank iced oat lattes at "Vertue Coffee Roasters" in Carlton
This is one of my fave spots in Carlton and what makes it cooler is that you can't see it from the street, it's down an alleyway, which makes it feel extra cosy!

Had a drink at the "Rooftop Bar" in Chinatown at sunset
Such a perfect way to end the weekend! This rooftop bar, literally called "Rooftop Bar"gave off a relaxed vibe which allowed for you to enjoy the city views in peace. The only thing I will add, is that I am terrified of elevators and I had to climb 7 flights of stairs to get to the top - many times I didn't think I'd make it, but the thought of a cold cider kept me going.
Worked at my advertising job in St Kilda
Let's not forget the real reason I was in Melbourne, I have a job there! Luckily enough I love my job as I work with the nicest people and it's always so lovely to see them when we're all in the office together. My colleagues also share my love for coffee which is a bonus and someone is always down for a coffee run.

Got dressed up & had cocktails at "Rubi" in St Kilda
Stepping into Rubi felt like stepping into another world - a beautiful pastel world. Within the first minute of being there I already embarrassed myself (and my friend) for the amount of photos I took, but how could I not??

Hung out with my Melbourne fam 🖤
I've been so lucky to meet such amazing and welcoming people in Melbourne. I met 3 of my new friends at a home open and then went out for a drink after...and the rest is history!
Ice skated at The Winter Village in Federation Square
Although this was a super cute way to end the night and the city lights were mesmerising, the pain that I felt from the ice skates will haunt me forever. I'll send the City of Melbourne my podiatrist bill.
Hung out a lot on the rooftop of my Airbnb and appreciated the view!
The occasional doggo who lived in the building would appear and make my night.
Then it was home time...for now!
